At the June Parish Council meeting councillors approved planning applications for the relocation of two poly tunnels at Orchard Cottage and alterations and extensions to 30 and 31 Church Road.  PC Gary Austin reported two crimes in the village in May one a burglary in Church Road and the other an assault on the White Horse Hill.  Two speed checks had been carried out at Hubbards Hall on the A137 on Wednesday evenings in an attempt to slow the motorcyclists who regularly use the road each week.  Mike Ewart has volunteered to take on the Lemons Hill bridge watch for the summer months and will liaise with the police and local residents to try to reduce the problems caused by youngsters jumping off the bridge into the reservoir.  The Great East swim takes place on June 19th and the traffic management has been completed.  Councillor Chambers reported that a meeting had taken place with the allotment owners and they are hoping to  form a committee and create tenancy agreements to ensure the plots are allocated fairly.  They are planning to increase the number of plots available. The second stage of the children’s play equipment has been ordered and is due to be installed within the next two weeks.
